Courses & Workshops
Registration for courses and workshops is done via the registration on our homepage.
You will receive an automatically generated confirmation by e-mail.
As soon as we have reached the minimum number of participants and we can assign you a partner (for individual registrations), we will send the course confirmation and invoice. After sending the course confirmation and invoice, we charge 100% of the course fee in case of cancellation.
It applies:
Registrations are personal and non-transferable.
Basel Jitterbugs can refuse a customer without giving reasons.
Registration with a partner is preferred. Both course participants must register separately, with the name of the partner in the space provided. For single registrations we keep a waiting list until a suitable leader/follower has registered.
In dance classes, partners are changed every few minutes during a lesson.
The premises are subject to change without notice.
The organiser assumes no liability. Insurance (accident, illness, liability) is the responsibility of the participants.
The teaching methods and content are not the intellectual property of Basel Jitterbugs. However, we expect to be informed as soon as you intend to teach swing dancing to other people.
The courses will only be held if there is a minimum number of participants (depending on the course). If a course has to be cancelled at short notice, 100% of the course fee will be credited or refunded.
Automatic registration for follow-up course
Our courses are continuous and build on each other. At the end of a course series, you are automatically registered for the next course. This saves you work and helps us with planning.
Before the end of a course series, you will receive an automatic course registration for the following series, provided the course is continued. If you do not wish to continue, you can unsubscribe by e-mail within the specified period. After the deadline, we will send the course confirmation and invoice for the new course series.
Cancellations are free of charge until the stated deadline. After sending the automatic course confirmation and invoice, the full course fee is due.
A place in the next course is only guaranteed with a dance partner.
Payment
The fees for courses and workshops are to be paid by bank transfer before the start of the course or by the respective due date in the course confirmation/invoice. Payment by instalments, payment in EUR and cash payments are possible on request by e-mail.
If you have two or more parallel courses, you get a discount, see "What does a course cost and what is the Jitterbugs discount" in the FAQ. If you join another course during the course period, the discount applies to the new course from that point and to all courses from the next course period.
Cancellations
Cancellations must be made in writing after registration (by sending the form). Non-payment of an invoice does not count as cancellation.
Cancellation policy for courses:
Before sending the course confirmation and invoice: Free of charge.
After sending the course confirmation and invoice: 100% - the full course amount will be charged.
Cancellation policy for workshops:
Registrations for workshops are binding. In case of cancellation, the full amount will be charged.
There is no right to reimbursement or compensation for missed course lessons/workshops, also due to illness or accident. Upon presentation of a doctor's certificate, missed course lessons/workshops can be partially transferred to future courses/workshops in the form of a credit. It is often possible to compensate for missed course lessons with make-up private lessons and thus continue the course.
Eine Erstattung von Kurs- & Workshopgebühren ist ausgeschlossen. Es besteht kein Anspruch auf Erstattung oder Ausgleich von ausgefallenen Stunden. Kursgebühren werden nicht erstattet im Falle der Änderung der Kursdurchführungsart (Online <-> Präsenz), der Änderung der Zertifikatspflicht (3G <-> 2G <-> 2G+), der Nichtteilnahme durch Quarantäne, Isolation, Krankheit, Militärdienst und so weiter. Können Kurse nicht wie geplant stattfinden, versuchen wir ein Alternativangebot anzubieten, z.B. Onlinekurse oder einen Alternativtermin. Es besteht kein Anspruch auf ein Alternativangebot. Unser Ziel ist es, dir zu jeder Zeit guten Tanzunterricht zu bieten und wir reagieren flexibel auf die äusseren Bedingungen.
Cancellations for individual lessons are not possible. However, if you are unable to attend 3 weeks or 4 lessons in a row (e.g. due to holidays or civil defence), part of the course fee can be waived or transferred to future courses or private lessons in the form of a credit note, provided you have informed us of this before sending the course confirmation.
Private lessons
Private lessons are booked via the corresponding booking tool.
Prices shown are for individuals and couples. Group private lessons can be booked by email.
Private lessons can be rescheduled or cancelled free of charge up to 24 hours before the appointment. For later changes, the full amount will be charged.
We reserve the right to refuse, reschedule or cancel private lessons. In the event of last minute changes, we will make every effort to find an alternate date.
Private lesson packages are valid for half a year. Open private lessons expire after this period.
online courses
via Zoom
These terms and conditions apply to dance lessons "on site" and online courses.
Withdrawals are excluded for online courses even in case of longer absence, as the courses are recorded and made available.
The course material is personal to you and is available to you indefinitely until the end of the course period. Sharing the course material with people who do not participate in the course and any reproduction is prohibited.
on Demand (Online School)
Access for Online Courses on Demand is for 3 months from the date of booking. Renewal is possible at 50% of the original purchase price for a further 3 months.
Events
If an event has to be cancelled, we will try to find an alternative date and transfer your ticket. Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee that the event will take place at the same place and, if applicable, with the same band. There is no claim. A refund of tickets is excluded.
As flights may be cancelled or delayed, band members may miss their flight/train or suffer car breakdown. Also band members can get sick. Therefore we cannot guarantee that all announced band members will be present or that the announced band will play. We will try to find an adequate replacement in any case, but there is no claim to live music.
We cannot control or take responsibility for the leader/follower ratio. If you would like to participate, please register early and secure your spot.
We cannot take responsibility for your valuables or physical safety. Please be careful - take care of yourself and others!
Marketing
With bookings of courses, workshops, private lessons, online courses and events you will be added to the mailing list. You can unsubscribe at any time via the link in the email.
By participating in courses, workshops and events, you grant the organizers the unrestricted right to use the images resulting from the photo and video recordings as well as any reproductions or edits of the images and videos for marketing, promotional or other purposes. This may include (but is not limited to) the right to use them in printed and online publicity, social media, press releases and advertisements. If you do not wish to be photographed or filmed, please inform us before the event.
Data protection
General
Basel Jitterbugs may amend or supplement the AGB at any time. The latest version will be published online here.
Any terms and conditions of the customer that conflict with these GTC shall require the express written confirmation of Basel Jitterbugs in order to be valid.
Notices shall be sent in writing to info@baseljitterbugs.ch.
Swiss law shall apply exclusively. In the event of disputes, the place of jurisdiction shall be the registered office of Basel Jitterbugs.
